Measurement III
Measurement III is the last Measurement module to work on the construction of the building, while including exterior items such as fencing & turfing, before fully focusing on exterior & service works such as sewerage, piping, etc. in further measurement modules. These last few elements of the building's construction consists of doors, windows, roofing & steel structures.
This module also follows the first & second measurement module in thoroughly learning how to read the architectural & engineer's drawings according to the topics of this module.
This module was taught by Ms Laura and Mr Chee, who is a registered QS & it consists of, just like other measurement modules, a midterm test, along with a group project as well as a Final Exam. Due to their way of teaching, constantly giving samples while drawing to help us visualise easily, followed with giving us tutorial questions to test our knowledge, it has helped me in going through this module & we were able to fully understand it.
This module consists of a mid-term test which is 25%, a combination of group and individual assignment which consists of 25% and also 50% of final exam.
This module covered topic such as :
1. Aluminium window
2. Casement window
3. Timber louvred window
4. Metal frame door
5. Timber frame panel door
6. Aluminium door
7. Timber roof structure
8. Seeding and turfing

Reflection:
Thanks to our lecturer, I have not only learnt about taking off but also understand more of how the frame and glazing are installed as he explained to us in class and making the whole lecture more interesting. By explaining the process of installation make it easier for us to complete our taking off of the openings. However, while carrying out our assignment, we had to solve a few problems that includes the discrepancy between the measured items. As we have to measure windows and doors that are already built, the measurements we not exactly in line with one another. We also faced difficulties when utilising the Glodon Software, as we have a few elements in our assignment that were not taught during the classes. Lastly for the assignment, I have improved my interpersonal skills during discussions and understand the power of teamwork.
